Reclaiming Motion: Running Through the Shadows

For five years, I moved through life. After COVID, the world changed, but so did I, in deeper, quieter ways I didn’t notice at the time. I left one life and started another. Then, just as momentum was building in what I was doing… COVID hit like a banana peel thrown by Donkey Kong Jr. on the final lap.

My first book, Radical Rest, was due for release that summer, the COVID summer. The plan? High street shops. In-person events. A rollout designed for the physical world, a world where hugs happened. My publisher was ready for that. I was ready for that.

Then the world stopped.

Retailers had more stock than they knew what to do with. No footfall. No signings. No appetite for risk. My book didn’t sell because it was bad, it did not sell because the model the marketing was built for collapsed. If the marketing, and stock streams did not exist, how would anyone know it existed?

The next books, Runes Made Easy and The Book of Runic Astrology, did better. Their advertising and supply streams were set up for a stay-at-home audience. And they worked.

But I didn’t. Not really.

What I’d done was fit myself into a business model that looked successful on paper. One that was encouraged in me by people outside of me. But didn’t feel like me. And what you don’t know you don’t know? That can cost you years. It cost me nearly five. I’m good at following a model and SOPs. If I’m part of your team I’m all in. But as soon as you don’t show me the loyalty, I’m showing you… I’m out. I’ve had several poor outcomes from staying in a place and being taken for granted. I’ve eventually learned.

It’s taken time to realise what I’m actually here to do: speak from lived experience. Share what works. Not what’s trending. Not what’s marketable. But what’s real. That is what I like. Stuff that works. I like things that I can experience working.

I like things that work. I like evidence, even if it is the N=1 kind of evidence (only works for me). I like systems with results. Radical Rest was that kind of book. So are the runes. They work for me in ways that are mystical, yes, but also electromagnetic, neurochemical, and practical.

And I’m fascinated by how people work, emotionally, physically, energetically.

I trained to be a nurse. That taught me the body. I studied psychology and coaching, that taught me the brain. Then came Ayurveda, Yoga, Kundalini, Norse cosmology, Pagan ritual, breathwork, cold exposure, re-enactment, runes, and more. It’s eclectic. But it’s all aimed at the same thing:

How do we live better?

Post-lockdown, I realised I was neck-deep in a depression I hadn’t named. Not sadness, just flat. No focus. No fire. Just endless pivoting, trying to build traction in systems that weren’t mine.

And somewhere in that fog, I remembered what I liked:

Biohacking. Writing. Burgers. Cold showers. Yoga. Runes. The nervous system. EDC gear. Real food. Real tools. Real rituals. Human-scale systems. Being outside. Moving my body. Talking to people about honour and purpose and trauma and myth.

Now I’m running again, literally and metaphorically. Feet pounding pavement (Pounding is deffo the right word). Breath finding rhythm (ish). Life moving forward with clarity.

And here’s the big shift: I’m not building a business for the world anymore. I’m building one from who I really am.

That means:

• Tools that work in real life

• Wisdom that’s lived, not theorised

• Rituals that fit a world of emails and deadlines

• And systems that honour biology, mythology, and practical action

You don’t have to be like me. But if you’ve ever felt broken by the system, overwhelmed by grey areas, or disconnected from your own body or rhythm, I see you.

Let’s build better.

From the inside out.

Astrocartography is one of the tools that helped me find my way back to clarity. It's not too woo, it's wiring. It shows you where on Earth the planetary forces of your birth chart come alive. I see this as micro adjustments in your body that simply work better in different places in the world.

Places where you're more supported, more seen, more activated, more victorious.

I’ve used it to shift my nervous system, change my focus, and feel like myself again. You don’t have to move across the world, that’s quite a big ask. You simply have to tap into where the current is flowing in your favour. This isn’t about prediction. It’s about positioning. If you’re tired of forcing traction in places that feel wrong, this is the map I wish I’d had years ago.

I can help you find your map.

Weekly Runic-Astrology Overview: 25th–31st May 2025

This is a week of fire and air, transformation, impulse, and fresh starts. The cosmos pushes us to speak, act, and forge something new from old truth.

Sunday 25 May, Loki / Saturn enters Ehwaz/Aries

A major energy shift: Loki / Saturn (karma, responsibility, change) moves from Berkanan/Pisces (emotions/waters) into Ehwaz/Aries (action/connectivity).

This marks a test of self. Not ego, but clarity. Not selfishness, but sovereign focus.

Think: What are you really here to do? What do you stand for?

Don’t rush, Loki tempers Ehwaz’ energy, inviting reflection, not recklessness.

Odin / Mercury conjunct Urd / Uranus: insights hit hard. Revelations come quick. Hold your tongue though, wait before sharing big plans.

Monday 26 May, Odin / Mercury enters Othala

Odin enters the home Rune, Othala, communication sharpens, ideas fly.

This sets the stage for the New Moon.

Brainstorm, but don’t act yet. Let thoughts settle and take shape.

Tuesday 27 May, New Moon in Othala/Gemini (04:02 UK time)

A potent reset in how you connect, speak, and think.

Clear old lines of communication. Establish new ones.

Myrmir / Pluto’s influence deepens this moon, this is more than chatter. You’re connecting to your truth.

A powerful day to journal, vision, or state your intent. But, don’t overshare. Let your idea grow in private.

Wednesday 28 May, Moon meets Thor / Jupiter, then squares Loki / Saturn and Njord / Neptune.

Big ideas surge. Self-doubt may follow.

Wednesday is a pendulum, inspiration in the morning, uncertainty by evening.

Let feelings flow. Don’t panic if motivation dips. Sit with your truth.

Thursday 29 May, Rest. Reassess. Regather.

A quiet day. No major transits. Let things settle.

Friday 30 May, Moon enters Thurizaz/Leo and Trines Loki / Saturn

Time to act. From spark to structure.

The Thurizaz Moon says: step forward with flair. Show up.

The Loki trine offers support, now’s your chance to forge from experience. Mix your past into something new.

Saturday, Integrate, don’t isolate

You are the sum of your experiences. Use them.

Energy dominates, ideas, inspiration, drive.

Loki / Saturn and the Norns still frame the week. It’s not what you do, but how. With balance. With awareness.

Themes:

Forge your path, Loki / Saturn in Ehwaz/Aries wants raw truth and real responsibility.

New conversations, Othala/Gemini clears old mental clutter.

Don’t overshare too soon, let the idea build.

Doubt is natural, but it’s not a stop sign.

Act on your knowing, ideas are only worth something if you do something with them.

WEEKLY RUNE READING, STALK / TRACK / MAP

Mengloth • Laguz • Dagaz

Power Phrase: “Heal deeply. Flow wisely. Rise changed.”

STALK, Mengloth

This week begins with the quiet pull of healing. Stalk what soothes, what steadies, what roots you.

She is the guardian of rest and recovery, not as weakness, but as sacred preparation.

TRACK, Laguz

Follow the water. Emotions rise like tide and river.

Track where you're pulled, but don’t get dragged. Let intuition steer you, not fear, not force. Move with the current, not against it.

MAP, Dagaz

The week ends in light. A turning. A breakthrough.

Dagaz is the dawn rune, transformation not in theory, but in action. What will you do when the light finds you? That’s your map.

Affirmation:

“I honour my healing. I trust my flow. I rise with the day.”

Would you like a matching visual suggestion for each rune too?
